Turned these today for a church charity auction tomorrow.

Note worthy here is that the green roof on the cedar house its old growth poplar. It is from the inside of a 1889 upright piano.

Apologies for the hard shadow pictures. I forgot to take photos and remembered it as I was going out the door to the church and grabbed my camera. The back ground is one of my churches interior walls and I had to use flash.

Stats:
Material:
BH1 = Roof-Old Poplar, House-Red Cedar (an ugly combo:rolleyes:)
BH2 = Roof-Red Cedar, House-Very Wormy Unnowood
BH3 = Roof-Black Walnug, House-Very Wormy Unnowood
John K. may be able to ID the Unnowood, I got it from him
Size = Miniature (4-5 inches tall x 1-1/4 house diameter.
Finish = Sanding sealer plus rattle can poly.

James those are some good looking houses. They should do really well at the auction.

Nicely done. I like them all, but I'd snatch up that one in the middle if I got first pick.

I'm with David on the middle one. I would bet that they do well.

The more I look at those little birdhouses, the "funner" they look to make.
DId you really carve up a piano to make that?:eek: jk
Best of luck in your fund raiser!

JD, I have to go with the middle one, as well - but nice work on all of them. Since that wood has powder post tracks, my guess is either maple or poplar, but beyond that - no clue!!

Nice looking birdhouses. I also like the middle one. I also think they look fun to make. Now I'm ready to run out to the shop & see if I could turn one.

Great looking houses, James. I'm partial to the second one also, I just think that's a great piece of red cedar. Best of luck at the auction!

Nice Jim. I am sure they will be quickly sold. I too vote for the middle one.
