View Full Version : Chisels or turning tools?

I'm not posting this in D&D because it is a question, not a forward for a deal...although, it might be, I'm now sure.

The owner listed these as chisels, but they look like turning tools, actually, like spindle tools to me. Thoughts?

Length and design looks about right. European spindle tools were often forged rather than machined, much like a roughing gouge. Roughers are generally half circle while spindle gouges were maybe a sixth or eighth. Large bench chisels would probably have a ring at the end to keep the handle from splitting when hit with a mallet.

At any rate they are probably carbon steel and not HSS.
