Only glueing I did was after I sanded to 150, then I shellac'd the bowl, let dry, then added thin CA to the area where the bark and the next layer meet (not sure what thats called)

I don't know that I'd answer that one...some things a turner just shouldn't have to tell.

Looks great Ken! It looks like oak, am I right?

Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but I have to glue ALOT of my bark. I haven't learned or been able to get my wood supply from winter cuts.

Here is another since I finished it at the same time. My wife wanted a bowl like Winnie the Pooh had...went off memory LOL!

White Oak
6x6x1/2 ( I let it stay slightly ovaled, the wife likes that)
One coat of AO

Nice bowl! I love the white oak. I have done one bowl out of that stuff and it was from a timber that had had 25 years to dry. You did it the easy way!:)

David, I have the luxury of being green enough to not really know better....although the Hickory ive been turning has me fast developing a shyness to that hard stuff LOL!

A real classic oak look. Color and finish is real close to my kitchen cabinets.

Ken,
Quite the output for a guy that's not supposed to even be standing at the lathe!!!
And very nice work too. I would imagine a nice diversion from your usual turnings! Keep em coming, and keep that back on the mend.

Thanks Micheal. I made it to my treestand this evening and while im not feeling better, todays stretching and "lathe dancin' " seem to be loosening me up some. I still took it real easy today!

I was told today I could not miss Bear camp, they have a snomobile ready for me:eek: 7 inches or so is due to fall and they want to hunt for tracks with them. I would imagine the ride could be smoother then the truck...especially since they drive them faster on the logging roads then the snomobiles:D

Ken, That layer inbetween the wood and the bark is the Cambium, so now you know it all! I love White Oak and for that matter any oak is good for me! I cut about 100 blanks that last couple days and not a one was WO.

Nice job on both,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff, I knew it started with a C haha! 19 years in the battery industry and all I could think of was Cadmium! Very close but I knew it was wrong.

I have more WO here then Red, but it is plentyful as well. Ive always liked oak, even though now that I work with it I can appreciate what it takes to make it really smooth! I still like to stop at 320, I love the "feel" of it.
