I was wondering if someone out there could help me. I would like to make a bible box. I want to do a reproduction of an 18th century box with carvings. If you have any pictures, I'd love to see them. I have a few ideas but haven't found one that I really love yet.
The only deviation that I want to do from original ones is that I plan to use Cherry, instead of the traditional Pine or Oak. Mainly because I have plenty of cherry and don't really care for pine or oak stained. Also, most of the ones I've seen have simple lap joints or rabbets. I would probably prefer dove tails (I need the practice) but don't want to deviate from traditional period features. If there are any examples in cherry and dove tails, please let me know.
Thanks for your help. I promise pictures when I have some to show.
