Baxter was kind enough to leave me some of his apple when he was up a few weeks back. I have been wanting to turn apple for awhile and settled on a thin bowl that I would let warp and do its thing. It did develope 2 small cracks that were CA glued and appear to be just fine now.

DNA soak and 1 coat of MAO, but will be recieving several more coats and a buff job

The warping actually looks really good in person, but I cant seem to capture it on film.

I like the warping Ken. It adds character. What is MAO?

I like your bowl and wonder, how thin is thin and what are the approximate diameter and height?

I have some apple that I need to work on before Christmas. I've been doing the microwave drying route and the apple certainly does move!

Cheers,
David

Nice job Ken! I really enjoy seeing it. It has some nice color though the red will darken a lot. I wouldn't be in too much of a rush to take it into a warm dry house. It might be fine but...:). I have not done the DNA soak so maybe you will be fine. I assume the cracks are the top two dark lines on the left in the first picture. When I first started working with some of the wood from that tree, I thought they were going to be neat spalt lines. Not!! Thanks for posting. Hope your back is feeling a little better!

Not much better but I aint sitting still no more!

I oiled it , now 2 coats and its back in the shop. I think it will be ok, I put it in a brown bag just to be safe

Great looking bowl and wood. I like the warping. It just adds character.
