I was thinking about a year ago I saw a post where someone built a wooden Tow-Mater wrecker.
Any help appreciated, thanks, Joe

Well I didnt find any information so I decided to give it a shot.
Here is my first attempt. It is going to my Grandson in Chicago.
I have allot to learn but it was a fun project.

Looking good. You caught the signature elements, his eyes and buck toothed grin. I'm sure your grandson will enjoy it.

A hundred years from now that’ll be on the Antique Road Show with a big price tag.
Love all the detail, looks great.

Great job on the truck. Is it a "play with" toy or big enough to ride on?

I like the proportions of your truck better than the movie anyway. Nice toy!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. It is a play with toy, about the size of a mans 14 shoe, lol.
I made most of it out of redwood, Matt is 5 so I am sure I will need to followup with anothr "car" in the future.
What is the best wood to make something like this out of?

I like using soft or hard maple. It sands smooth and doesn't tend to splinter. It holds up will to being played with and if a small child chews on it it won't hurt them.http://www.home.earthlink.net/~us71na/grader1.jpg
