A very very basic sanding question. I am making breadboards with a recess for a dipping bowl. I need to sand the bottom of the recess without breaking the sharp edge of the cut. What's the best way to do this other than by hand?

I use New Wave sanding discs (http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.aspx?p=49253&cat=1,42500) for that sort of thing but you stil have to be very careful to maintain control of the direction. If you make sure the direction of the abrasive is the same as if pouring something from the bowl (from the inside to the outside) it is pretty easy to avoid taking the sharpness off the edge.

I would use a curved scraper:

You can get 2" or 3" soft pad PSA sanding mandrels that'll mount in a drill. Wood turners use these for powersanding curved surfaces.
