Y'all know that I got that new Delta Lathe with a 16" swing. Well, here is my first large segmented piece. It's 15" diamenter and 4" high, 16 Segment per ring with 6 rings and a solid bottom. The top ring is Walnut, although it is hard to tell from the picture. It has a Tung Oil finish and the second coat is still wet when this picture was taken.

What ya think?

This is a good looking piece, I have been thinking about segmented work. I love to turn Sapele. I see we are neighbors. I live north of Monticello.

Nice job, Bill. I like it. I gotta try segmenting someday. Staved vessels are as close as I've done.

It looks good to me... Lots of color variation in the piece which is cool.

Neighbors indeed, only 30 miles to Monticello. If you are going to be in the Griffin/Barnsville area send me a PM, maybe we can meet for coffee and turning stories.
