I can't keep up with Baxter, so I figure since i'm new to bowls, one of mine should equal say.... 35 of his:D

White Oak NE rough out....its as thin as I can go for now. 6.5 x 4 x 3/16

Now doing the backstroke in the DNA pool!

That thickness looks just right to me, nice bowl.

Looks pretty good Ken! Since you are new to bowls - if you put a little more of a curve to the walls - you'll find it is a lot easier to turn!

Thanks Steve, I have several with a standard curve, but I need the practice haha! I do a few one way, then a few another and learn something everytime I think:D

Good looking bowl Ken. Looks like the bark stayed on pretty well. If ya got it doing the backstroke I hope a life guard is on duty.;)

Looks like it will be a nice one Ken! You did a good job keeping on the bark. When I was on number 8, it would take me 3-4 hours. I imagine you are doing a lot better than that.:)

And its 245 now;) but who's counting! Turned out two from your walnut today. One thick and one thin. I saved the best for last.:) Its my favorite wood when it comes to furniture. The cracks limit the way you can split the pieces and what you can make, but it seems relatively dry. I might try to sand and finish the thin one in another week or so.

Looking forward to seeing the oak NE before long!

Yeah, im in no rush and although I am getting faster, the learning curve seems to get wider LOL!

Looks good... Nice looking bark edge.

I'm guessing that you'll go straight to sanding when the DNA swim is over... I looks like it might be too thin to return.
