all were finished with the Maloof wonder mix, which set off my father's COPD, hopefully in a few days of outgassing they'll be able to use them, right now they're sitting in his shop with a window open to vent the fumes. Thanks for looking!

Nice job on all of them, Ned! Also, how thick is that plaque? Looks to be a lot thicker than "normal" scrollsaw projects.

Nice work! I like the look of these boxes! "Letting the wood speak for itself!"
Nice!

John,
that is 3/4 curly maple. The plan which I believe came out of either Scrollsaw Workshops or a relatively recent issue of Wood, called for that thickness, The cats were all cut out, then resawn so they would be different random thicknesses. They were then glued onto a plywood backer, which was in turn glued into a rabbett in the back of the frame.

Chris,
thanks, I really like featuring wild and woolly grain, figure, etc... so, spalted or ambrosia maple, curly cherry, maple etc...
throw something on it to make the grain 'Pop' and then let the piece speak for itself.
