I've started building a china cabinet. The design is fairly classic -- base will have frame and panel doors; upper will be glass doors and glass shelves.

And it will have lights in the uppers.

Total height is 9' -- all the way to the ceiling. So the upper cabinet will be almost 6' tall. The lights need to be fairly bright, but SWMBO also wants a dimmer.

I don't want to spend a fortune on the lights, but I don't mind paying for quality. (I'd love to use LED strip lights behind the face frame, but at $50 per foot, no way.)

What have any of you used, and how has it worked out?

Shameless self-bump.

I would use LED. Dim-able, last pretty much forever and small so you can use them without heavy mods to the design.

I agree they are not cheap but there is nothing else on the market that performs like they do - I am installing a 14' run of them as under cabinet lighting in my wife's office remodel.
