Well,

My new lathe landed! Delivery was smooth with no drama. Wheeled right into my shop. About an hour to unpack and with the help of 2 burly folks, it's now assembled.

Still need to clean the grease off and get it situated (dang, it's heavy!). New Nova Chuck on order.

Going to be a good Thanksgiving/Christmas/birthday/valentines day/mothers day for me.

Can't wait to start making chips!

Greg - Congrats on your new lathe! You will love it!!!

Don't forget the set screw on the faceplate - a lot of us left scars on the spindle because of it!

Congratulations. Wish I could remember when the floor around my lathe looked like that. Sure it won't last long. ENJOY!

Nice pick-up. I'm interested in your review as this is the one I have been looking at.

What part of NWNJ are you in? I used to live in Jefferson Township.

Thanks all,

I'm in Sussex Co. Andover Borough.

Also still awaiting some chisels, hope to start messing up my floor very soon!

This seems to be my 'last' Lathe. Don't foresee having to replace it any time in the remainder of my life time.

I'm really excited to start turning again. The weather might slow things down a bit however.

You will love the 1642, I sure miss mine, wore it out. I have owned the 1442 and 1642. Now I have a Oneway and just bought my boys a Jet mini 1014. Jets are top notch, you can do many things on them without costing a arm and leg.

I thought a 1642 would be my last lathe as well.....
I am thinking about a dedicated bowl lathe in the future.
Or another 1642, being that the GF turns as well.
They are really nice machines, ENJOY!
