I believe most of us who have turned red cedar have experienced the frequent, unwanted cracking. Usually I cut the pith out of the log to make my blanks. As it happened, I have saved several slices from the red cedar pith, for whatever reason(s). They are months old, and I was looking at them yesterday. Of the 8 or so I saved, none of them have cracked significantly at all, and seem very seasoned. In fact, I can see only one small crack on one of them, and none on the rest. I have never made a cediper plate or platter, but I think I'll give it a shot this weekend.
Sorry about the poor pics, but it was difficult bending over full of mulled cider. Have a great all.... :)
