I need to cut a 3/4" slot long the inside edge of this. Anyone have any ideas about what I could use? A slot cutting router bit? I haven't seen a 3/4" slot cutter yet. I guess I could us a 1/4" slot cutter and do multiple passes.

Yep, thinner slot cutter and multiple passes. Does the wood have sufficient height that there's something for the pilot bearing to touch when you're making the top-most pass?

Trever - how deep of a slot do you need to make? it looks like it sits fairly flat on the surface...I was going to suggest a dado bit, but guiding it would be tricky. I might have to agree with the slot cutter w/guide bearing on a router table, and multiple passes. I would also attach it to a large base, to make sure sure it doesn't rock any.

re: enough height for the bearing

A technique I'm used is to stick a piece of MDF on top with some double sided tape, rough cut on the band saw, trim with a flush cut bit, and then do whatever you want to it with the bearing guides.

John, I thought about that - but wouldn't that give you a template with the same profile? and if you rode a router bearing along it, you woould still need a slot cutter to cut into the piece.

Trever - where do you need the slot? In the pictre, where it's sitting flat on the table...would it be on the side, the top, or the bottom?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The point was to give more height if the bearing on the slot cutter went over the top of the piece.

The slot needs to run on along the edge on the inside of the curve, the side facing the camera. I would like for it to be at least 1/2" deep. It looks like if I did multiple passes with a thin slot cutter the top cut would go deeper than the rest because the bearing would be touching the round over. It will be covered up so that's not really a bad thing.

I saw this slot cutter:

Its stackable like a dado set and goes to 3/4". Costs a little more than what I want to spend just to make this one cut, but it might be a handy tool to have.
