I've got a line on a 55gallon barrel of DNA that's unopened. Price is $225. Is that reasonable?

That breaks down to roughly $1/qt... considering Home Depot sells it for $6-7/qt, I'd say 'yes'.

Of course, you also have to ask... is that drum properly sealed? If not, it may have been soaking up water from the air for quite some time.

Brian - Welcome to the Creek!

I pay somewhere around $12 per gallon at our local home improvement store - so getting it for $4 a gallon sure sounds like a deal to me!

that is a lot of DNA... do you have a turning club around to share the cost?

If I had the cash, I'd jump on that deal.

That price is about right.

That's approximately my company's drum price for ethanol.

Thanks folks :) I'm relatively new here. Been lurking for a while. Picked up a 3520 during the sale. Finishing up my garage shop now. Should be able to start turning after the holiday.

That is a great deal and with your new 3520B (congrats and welcome to SMC) you are on your way.

Although that price can't be beat, that is a LOT of Dna. I have been using the Dna method for well over a year and still have about 6 gallons left out of the 15 I have bought over this time frame.
Another slight problem is storage of a giant container and you'll be storin it for a long time.

If you can share it with other turners I would say its worth it, but just for a new turner....probably not.
