Here are a few bowls done by my High School students this semester. The bowl in the last picture is sitting on drafting paper that is 24" wide, so it is a big bowl.

You have some seriously talented students and they obviously have a seriously talented instructor!

Give them all a "Well Done!"

Geez Jack, way to spoil the kiddos with great wood! We never had wood like that when I was in school. It's pretty obvious that their teacher is doing a great job. Those are some nice projects.

Excellent! Looks like some of the teacher has been rubbing off on the students!

Thanks for sharing Jack! Be sure to let your students know that we are all very impressed with their work!

Jack, I think the real distinctions here are -

1. You care! You are sincerely interested in your students and want them to excel.

2. You enjoy woodturning (and are good at it!) and your students quickly pick up on that zeal.

These are some really nice pieces, and obviously the result of interested, well instructed students. Well done!

Dang...... all I remember is marching bands pre blood, sweat and tears or chicago and nailing together a shoe shine box!
Good job to teacher and students!
ps - I think we were laminating 3/4 by's to make something "nice":)

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It has been a blast introducing my students to the VORTEX over the last few years. Some have taken to it very quickly. I'm sure they will enjoy reading the compliments you guys have posted.
Thanks Again,
Jack

Very nice Jack. Tell your students great work!

You are an example of how a wonderful teacher can influence a young person. You have shown these students something they will never forget and possibly given them a hobby or even a vocation for life.

Wish you would have been my high school shop teacher....I only got to make a box from pine plywood :(
