Richard, I see that this is your first posting to Saw Mill Creek. Welcome from a fellow Ontario resident! Thats almost an antique saw that you have. How do you like it?
Hi Frank,

I love it ! I bought it from a gentleman in New Brunswick. It had the original 3hp 3 phase motor when i bought it.I replaced the motor with a new 3hp Leeson single phase.Saw is Canadian made.Built in Guelph,Ontario.
It has a Biesmeyer 48" fence.Bearings are good.I added an Exactor sliding table.I like the set up.I figured the cost of this setup was close to the price of a new General 350.That includes the sliding table.
The unfortunate thing is I haven't used it in a while.I moved into a new house and my workshop went from a dedicated tools only 16'x30' to a 23'x25' 2 car garage. This garage stores a barn full of wood, many sheets of plywood, lawnmowers, kids toys, and my woodworking tools.I have about 10' x 15' to work in.The footprint of the saw with the sliding table is 9'x20'.You need 20' min. to cut sheets of plywood.
So this brought up a problem with building kitchen cabinets.I started in the old shop but still lots to do.The solution was to buy more tools. The Festool ATF 55 took care of the plywood, and a Mini Max 16(on its way) should take care of ripping the not so wide hardwood.

Happy Holidays

Rich

Check out the new thread poll on right / left tilt. Since you asked, I posted some senseless rambling there about why I wish I had right tilt. I'm not sure if what I wrote makes sense in anyone elses mind...??? I don't hate left tilt, but for what I do most, right would work better....

Another Shopsmith (10ER I believe) , probably as old as yours although I don't really old. Inherited from my father. It also works fine although it's not real accurate, the shaft wobbles a bit, too many miles on it I guess.

garage, another one on its northward migration to the garage, because
on Monday April 18 the new Sawstop will be here! I play constuction tool roulette, always have a job and a 1/2 starting up or winding down so I just
keep moving them. Hidden mini gloat, the incra TSLS fence is here but still
boxed. My son is making fun of me......Dad! Black saw, gold fence?

Herb,
Where is my PM 66 in your poll? Did you post your poll to determine second place? :) Just kidding, Herb. The BEST saw is the one that suits your needs, gives you the quality that you want, matches your tool budget, makes you comfortable when using it and NEVER threatens you with a "kickback"!

Considering the latter requirement, I vote for the #$*&%#@!. It is imported from the seventh moon of the first ring of Saturn. However, there is presently a production backup with projected delivery of 7087! :( ;) DANG!! I guess that I will have to give up smoking!! :D :)

Delta 36-655 cabinet saw, 10", R.T., 1 3/4 HP., 110/220.
- new variety, works well, first table saw for me.
this came with Delta fence (not Uni-fence) and standard miter gauge w 18" extension making it a good economical package.
- much heavier machine than contractors or hibrids and no vibration.
-single belt., 4" dust port.
- normally use thin kerf blades but has sufficient power to handle max depth dense hardwoods with no problem.
I think this will work out ok but will end up upgrading accessories.

Unisaw probably one of the few that only has the 30" extension. It is not the size of your tool. In my case, the size of my shop
