Attached are photo's of an plane I recently finished.

The bed angle is 40 degrees & the blade width is 1 1/4".

The skew angle across the mouth of the plane is 65 degree's.

Plane dimensions are; 11"L x 1 2"W x 1 3/4"H.

What did you use to make the textures on the side and top? I really love the streaks coming down off the top towards the mouth.

That plane is one way to show end grain who's boss! I'll bet it does a fabulous job, too!

BTW,how did you decide on the position of the handle, aft rather than behind the blade?

Hi Billy. I used gunsmith chequering tools for the sides & throat of the plane.

Hi Bruce. A normal hand plane uses a 2 handed grip. A shooting plane is normally held by a single hand grip. By having this grip as close as possible over the working part of the plane - the blades cutting edge, less energy is required to control the plane.
