Hiyas, can anybody suggest any online retailers that sells 1/16" hardboards or thin MDF? I had little luck with chains like Home Depot and local lumber yards who only sells 1/8" Hardboard and 1/4" MDF.

Alternatively, can anybody else suggest a cheap, non plastic based, very thin (1/8" or less, 1/16" preferred), material that is dense and very smooth (no wood grains).

Please post your city and state. Someone may be able to help you find a local supply. Also try woodfinder.com.

I'm in the Boston, MA area. I tried woodfinder.com for "hardboard", "HDF", "Thin MDF" and didn't get very good results.

Since you're in Boston you can try Boulter Plywood in Somerville, MA.

Look for Aircraft plywood that comes in 1/16". 1/32", 1/64"

Here's a link to one aircraft wood supplier. Note the aircraft grade plywood has no voids. Aircraft grade wood has a certain amount of cross grain per inch to insure the proper strength, so it will be more costly.
