I am looking to make a carving type vise, anybody have a source for bolts or threaded studs to match my M. Monster? 1 1/4x 8 tpi?

Give boltdepot a call. You can google them. We get all types of odd nuts and bolts for the boat from them.

McMaster-Carr or Grainger might have 'em.

I tried the same thing. I ended up getting a spindle adapter that works for me. You could also get a spindle extender or a tailstock chuck adapter.

"Best Wood Wools" also has an adapter that fits onto one of their tool rest posts. They may be able to make you what you're looking for.

Trent Bosch makes an adapter that mounts in your banjo or in a bracket that bolts to the table:

He sells it direct or CSUSA carries it - $150.00

I am in the process of doing the same thing. I am using this:

I got this:

Can't beat the price, and works fine. I got a couple of his faceplates too.

When I was looking, everywhere I went they told me 1 1/4 x 8 tpi is a speacial thread that is made for bridge and iron working ONLY. They are not available for over the counter buying. You can buy 1 1/4 x 7tpi or 9 tpi but not 8 tpi.
So I was told.

Fastenal is a great source for large fasteners like what you need. They are open to the public and have branches all over.

I found a 1 1/4 x 8 nut at Fastenal to fit my spindle without any problem. I would think they would have the bolts also...
