I have an opportunity to buy a Record Power CL3 for $200. Looks new and has the bowl attachment. Does anyone have experience with this lathe?

Larry, I did a search and found this thread (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=91152)that may be of some benefit to you. It was the only thing that came up for this lathe.

The CL3 looks to be underpowered for doing bigger stuff like bowls and Hollow Forms. It looks to be pretty much just a spindle type lathe. The other concern I would have is it looks to me like it has a MT 1 and 3/4 X 16 threads on the spindle. If you do happen to love turning then want to upgrade most of your tools such as drive centers, livecenters, etc. won't fit the newer updated lathes. IMHO I would pass. A Rikon 12", Jet 1220 VS or the Delta 46-460 VS would be a much better choice.

I have that. Lathe it a good lathe for doing small stuff. Will not go slow enough to turn out of round prices 8in or larger without jumping all owed the place and I have 400 pounds of sand on mine.:D
