I am looking to buy a CNC Router but haven't been able to find a store to demo one. Are there any owners in the Auburn, CA area that have one and would be willing to let me drop by and see how it works?

I will drive a couple of hours if need be.

Thanks!!!

If you can't find one closer, there are Shop Bots that are quite accessible in the San Francisco area. The Sawdust Shop has one, as does the Tech Shop, and they both offer classes in the operation.

Yep I live in Seattle where I have my CNC machines setup and more than willing to show you a great CNC machine running, Jim is correct I work in SoCal but the CNC is in Seattle.

Once you see what these machines can make, your mind is the limit.

Thanks guys. So far it looks like the closest is a good 4 hours drive or more. I'll keep looking.

at the risk of sounding arrogant, i love my camaster sooooo much that if i had to walk a four hour drive then lay plywood end to end and push this machine all the way home

i would!!

Gene - It's snowing here right now so I might take you up on that.

James & Gang - I'm now looking at spending more as I want more than 3-4" on the Y-axis. I can't find that info on the Stinger I - do you know?

Also looking at the ShopBot now, too.

Does this sound familiar?....keep justifying the next level up, lol.

It's down to the Romaxx WD-1 (Y=8") and the Stinger (Y=5" I think).

James, thanks for all of your input. Now I just have to let things settle in and work on a few more $$ - I already sold my scooter, lol.

I vote for the stinger! I have a cobra and have seen the stingers first hand. They are solid and very well built!!!
