The lacquer is barely dry on this vase. The dark area on the right is a stain from a nail, approximately 12" tall.

Dennis, I really like it. Love the shape and the finish too. I have never turned Mimosa, so how is it? And what are you using to hollow almost 12"?

Dennis,

That is some seriously pretty grain on that mimosa. Very good form.......all the proportions look dead on to me.........the foot size related to the body, and the height of the shoulder and the curve is continuous and the opening is just about right for this size form

Your eye for form and proportion was good on this one for sure. This mimosa piece has some WOW factor to it.

Really a very nice job on the form! I turned down some Mimosa several months back, but probably should have gotten it - beautiful color.

Ah Dennis, the ole nail in the mimosa trick, you can do better than that. Seriously, a beautiful vesel. Wood, form and finish are right on. Thanks for sharing.:)

That's a beauty you've got there. Excellent form and finish. I'm just itching to start turning some mimosa I have from a tree that was taken down just a few months ago that I DIDN'T pass up on. ;) That was for you JK!

Those pesky nails play havoc on your chainsaw, but sure add interest. I can't wait to turn some walnut and poplar that have some mineral staining from nails in them.

Again...great job! If there was any challenge around turning this wood or finishing...please pass along info. Thanks.
