Is this the same as what Highland Hardware sells or something different?

If different and you happened to be in the UK, what do you think the airlines would charge to check it in? Carry on perhaps? :)

Given the price being asked by Axminster, I would bet that this is the same vise. They're made in Taiwan, and do not have a very good reputation for quality, at least among the local WWs that I know that have (had - most of them have sold them) them.

In contrast, the Lee-Valley Tucker vise had a superb reputation for quality, but they were pricey, and Lee-Valley stopped making them a few years back. You might be able to find a Lee Valley Tucker on fleabay.

Assuming you're in the US or Canada, you might want to consider a genuine Emmert or Yost. The bad economy has brought the price down on antique Emmerts quite a bit, so they're less of a hit to the wallet than they used to be.
