coring systems

i have a 17 x 3 3/4'' of flame elder box burl i want to core can any of the systems do it i know they can do deep but this definitely isn't deep, seems like a huge waste to just hollow it out.

The flat curved blade from the McNaughton will remove at least one core from that blank, maybe two, depending on what shape you want for the biggest bowl.
They would be shallow, so probably more plate or platter forms. Problem is though, that if you get a McNaughton system, you really should learn to use the standard set of blades before you try the large ones, and that would mean that you would end up saving that piece for a while before you try to core it.

Maybe some one in your area might have one and would do it for you, maybe in exchange for the core....
