I was killing time today and decided to Google my cabinet saw, a Delta 36-731 and was amazed how many comments there were about not being able to make ZCI for this style of saw, and remembered that I posted my ZCIs for my saw. When I saw the title of my thread, I realized that anyone who searches for this info wont be able to find it, so I decided to repost this info and change the title to reflect the model numbers.

I have since added the Delta removable splitter and it also works well with the ZCI. Here is a pic of it, with the stock throat plate, so people can see why there are questions about this style throat.

A solution to making zero clearance inserts I have used

(1)Measure the thickness of your manufactures insert with callipers

(2)Visit a supplier that sells laminate flooring ask if the have any offcuts/samples

(3) measure the thickness of the flooring with the callipers and identify a piece of flooring with the same thickness as you zero clearance insert

Lance, I realize this is old, but it is relevant to me now:
1. What is the model number of the removable splitter you got for it?
2. How did you cut (particularly line up properly) the slot for the splitter in the ZCI?

Thanks.

Well done Lance. Poor titles for threads is a major pet peeve of mine. We need to remember that folks will be using this stuff long after we've forgotten what we were talking about in that thread titled "My New Saw" or "Dad's Old Tools" ;-)
