Very nice Ken. But you are going to have to go much bigger for a holiday "nut" bowl.:D

My wife asked why my bowls and plates all seemed to be the same size (diameter)...I told her I was just practicing uniformity!

Truth be told, I have a lid to a maxwell house coffee canister with a nail in teh center for marking the wood for the bandsaw LOL!

Yeah but those containers aint empty yet haha!

I made this today...it was going to be a natural edge winged deal but it ddnt work out....a piece broke off so I ended up with this. The different coloring of teh walnut is due to it probably being another log. Ive just been going to the walnut stack and cutting a piece out to turn.

The walnut is from a friend...if anyone remembers my thread asking about "Purple" walnut. Now I havent turned much of that particuliar tree yet, I am trying to use up the wood that had been down for several years. Im sure those that come here for the gathering next saturday will all leave with a chunk!

Pretty bowls and nice work! To be honest though, I think it would be tough to make a walnut bowl that wasn't pretty!:)

That second bowl is even cooler. The shape is really interesting, and I agree with Baxter about the virtues of walnut.
