take a look at the video and the web site. this is the robotics team i am on at millersville university. we went to the national ATMAE confrence two weeks ago and came out with a first place trophy.

the robots task was to be driven on the beach remotly, the driver had to be 100ft away facing the other direction. the robot had to drive into an area mark autonomous where it had to run autonomously and try to pick up a peice of 3 inch steel pipe out of the sand. once the pipe was picked up it could be remotley controled again. the method for detecting the pipe was a COGNEX camera, it uses a pattern checking software to regognize shapes that you program into it. it was a very hard task because of all the variables, but we came out on top.
