About this time last year, I received some beautiful maple from a person. They wanted a couple bowls in exchange. This is the same wood that I turned the maple spheres from that I posted earlier in the year. The larger bowl is around 12" in dia and the smaller one is around 11". Both are finished with walnut oil and where cored from the same blank even though one has more white in it. This has to be some of the darkest maple I've ever turned.

I like the first one best, it looks a lot like natural camouflage.

Jack,

That wood is a rare find! Very rarely does one find wood that figured........I am glad you gave it a life that will allow it to endure and be appreciated in years to come.

Nice form on the bowls, and we appreciate you sharing these with the rest of us!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. This wood has really been something special to work with. Mother nature makes our jog a lot easier when she creates wood this nice.
Thanks Again,
Jack
