Wondering if anyone has tried using bamboo flooring for engraving. I was at a flooring warehouse the other day getting some tiles and they had some marked down pretty cheap. Looks like it should laser pretty well and could cut down to size or even connected as it would be on a floor to make a larger picture/mural.

Cheers.

I've done bamboo and don't like the way it engraves. My feeling is that it requires a colorfill to look good.

That said, it seems to be an increasingly popular wood for several engraving applications.

I end up doing twp passes, quicker on the second pass so it doesn't
go too deep. Similar to some Maples.

I use Bamboo regularly, and paint fill the light color, but the darker engraves decently without. I never used flooring, though, just thins, ply, and veneer.

Here is a thread that shows a design I did on bamboo flooring:

Definitely color fill to the max here.... :)
