A while back Mr. Strasil posted a picture of a double sided marking knife and I really liked the design. I found an old scraper putty knife and cut the blade with a cut off wheel in a Dremel tool. Flattening the back was the most work. Then I filed the cutting edge and just sharpened and honed the first inch or so on each side. Not very pretty but functional. I had this scraper to fool with but if you wanted to make one you can find one with a nice wood handle and maybe an even stiffer blade.
