So I'm looking for suggestions for a basic starter set of handsaws. I have a carcase rip and carcase crosscut from Lv (too good an offer to ignore.)

I tend to make side tables, coffee tables, bookshelves....you get the idea. Suggestions for my next saws would be appreciated.

I'd suggest a crosscut hand saw (26") with a coarse 7 or 8 TPI. You can use that for rough sizing or chopping up 4x4s. Secondly, a finer crosscut panel saw of about 20" and 10 - 12 TPI for the bench. And thirdly, a rip panel saw of about 7 TPI for cuts that are too deep for your rip carcase saw. If you get serious about sawyering, you could add a larger (26 - 28") rip saw of about 5 to 5 1/2 TPI if you want to start ripping long boards he-man style.

Paul,
The right saw depends on the job you want said saw to do. There is no one saw that will do everything well. Here's my take on Western hand saws.
