Bosch 1617 and PC 690 Motor Interchangeable??

I thought I read recently in a thread(which I can not find now) that the motor of a PC 690 would fit in the base of Bosch 1617?? That was good news to me at the time because I have three bases for my 1617 and have been looking for another motor or two. The PC's can be found used.

Today I went to The Borg and they had both routers on display. I took the motor out of the PC but it would not fit in the Bosch base. It seems that one has the guide pins on the motor and the groove the base and the other is just the opposite.

Can someone please clarify this for me?:confused:

1617 motor acceptable in 1001 PC casting but not the other way around.

I guess I'm not as happy as I thought I was. I was hoping to find some motors to put in my extra Bosch bases.
