Here are the pictures of the nested set after they where all done. I gave the largest of the set to the person that gave me the burl along with another nature edge bowl I got out of the same burl. The first pictures or of the set and the last is of one of the two cores I got off the bottom of this set. I still have one more to return and finish from the bottom two.The largest bowl in the set is around 15 1/2" by 8" deep cored and turned to finished thickness the same day. The bowls are between 1/4" to 1/8" in thickness. All the bowls including the last one are finished with deft. Being that there are so many little voids in the oak burl they would never have been usable for food other than a bread or fruit bowl.

All I can say is beautiful Jack. The burl is awesome and the bowls turned out great.

Jack,

These bowls are just beautiful! Any one of them would have gotten the same results in the bowl contest IMO. It is amazing to me how you made them so uniform, a set to be proud of.

Like I said before that is an incredible set of bowls. The wood is spectacular piece to start with and you did that piece of wood justice. I would be proud to own this set.

Great Work!!

I'm still a novice at turning and am at a loss to understand how you finish the bottom of natural edge bowls. I have a vacuum chuck but it doesn't seem strong enuf to hold while the bottom is being turned. Can someone enlighten me on the process?

Jack, I am just pretty certain that if I tried this, I would end up with a large pile of busted up burl!!! I was just in awe when these were posted - fantastic work!
