My neighbor had a lemon tree that died and I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of lemon wood as it pertains to turning? It's not a big tree (about 6-8" around) but if it's useable I'll cut up some of it and see about making some small bowls.

Never seen it turned, but I have seen other citrus trees nicely spalted(orange, grapefruit, etc). I'd get it and see if you can get some to spalt.

How do I get it to spalt?

I think you just leave it on the ground and keep it out of the sun. I'm not an expert on spalting, but there are some threads by Seri Robinson(sp?) that cover the topic pretty well. Some of the others on here should chime in on spalting suggestions.

Since the tree has died it may already be spalted. Citrus trees don't have much if any heartwood so the rot spreads pretty fast.
