Loading dock leveler

Has anyone ever put a loading dock leveler into their shop? My shop is going to have a floor nearly a foot higher than the driveway and my original thought was to simply have fixed ramps inside the shop. Then I thought back to my days of being a truck driver/dock worker and thought about putting in something similar to what we did for the forklifts to get in the back of trucks. The idea that I could have a ramp that would usually sit level with the floor, could be raised to rest on the tailgate of my pickup, or lowered to ground level seems very appealing.

I have worked on setting up the wells for these and you would have a pit that would hold water. ramps would be a better way to go.
