Just wanted to thank those that responded to a recent thread I posted regarding side rabbet planes. I was completely ignorant and didn't know which way to go. Essentially, I was told that a used 79 from an uknown source would probably take allot of work and that the LV or LN options were the best way to go.
I ordered the LV and took delivery of it yesterday. I'm very impressed at it's heft and how well it works. I'll admit that it looked odd in the pictures but it's a fantastic design and fits very well in the hand. Not one of those things I'll use often, but it's nice to know that when I do, it will certainly do it's part. Hats off to Dereks review and all the others who steered me correctly on this.
