I finished up a few ornaments tonight. Three of them are natural edged Russian Olive burl bells from burl scraps with walnut handles. The other two are segmented from some beautiful curly maple that Steve Schlumph sent me a while back. The spindles are some kind of nice rosewood on the left one and walnut on the other one. The bells are about 6" long, the globe and icicle ones are about 7" long.

Very nice. Like the natural edge bell shape.

All are lovely, but I'm really digging the bell shaped natural edge ornaments. I just scored some natural edge bottle stopper blanks that may have a purpose now. I always look forward to your ornament posts... Inspirational stuff to be sure.

Those are beauties as Bernie says always can expect asume ornaments from you. Do the bells have a clanker in them?

I really like the bells. You are really helping push me into driving out to see the in-laws next year and getting some russian olive.

Curt,

All those are a cut above what is normally seen. The staving on the body makes them stand out, and your finials/icicles are just full of fine detail.........reeeeeally nice!

Ah, it is Christmas at the Fuller lathe again!! Curt, you do beautiful work on these, and the bells are my favorite - so well formed and thin. Just perfect!

Of the others, I really like the form of the first one. For an ornament, I think it has that something extra - something that makes it "ornamental."

The other has smoother lines, and for a piece of art, it would be the better of the two IMO. But, the first one - special!
