Alternatives to Ledger Lock?

I recently discovered Ledger Lock fasteners. They're great. Easy to use and extremely strong. But they are pricey. About $40. for a box of 50 around here. Are there any less expensive alternatives that use a similar type of hex head driver and have the same type of large bearing surface for a head? Thanks in advance for any tips.

Timberlok is an alternative, but not any cheaper.
Love them both!

You could go the old way using lag screws. They cost less and do the same job. They don't go in as easily as ledger lock though.
