I have been working up a few jewelry boxes for the holiday season and am finding hardware for the lids to be a particular pain in cost and selection.

What is the preferred hardware you guys like to use for stops on lid tops?

I really like this style (http://www.leevalley.com/US/hardware/page.aspx?p=40800&cat=3,41241,41245&ap=1), but find 20$ a pair to be pretty steep, though not as steep as the quadrant hinges from Lee Valley (http://www.leevalley.com/US/hardware/page.aspx?p=40236&cat=3,41241,41243&ap=1) or the quadrant hinges from Woodcraft (http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2001042/2693/Hinge-Quadrant.aspx).

Thoughts? Other options?

Alex,

I make a lot of keepsake boxes and those 95 degree Brusso hinges are what I use on the bulk of them. They are also the criteria I use for deciding if the box is worthy or not...the worthy ones get Brusso hinges and the rest get stamped, hardware store hinges.

I've also been making some sculpted boxes like the pic attached that utilize only a couple pieces of 1/8" brass rod for hinges. I like these a lot.

Alex: I don't have the answer but am certainly glad to see the question posted. I have the same concerns and thought I was just being miserly. Looking forward to the answers you get.
