I found a Delta 6" X5 jointer for sale locally for less than $150.00. I beleive that I can get it for maybe $100.00. Does anybody have any experience with this machine? I have found good and bad reviews online.

Thanks....

I saw that ad and am tempted to pick it up to resell. At that price, its a buy now, ask questions later situation if the thing runs with no obvious problems and the tables and fence check out reasonably flat individually.

I already sent an email saying that I wanted it...

Andy,
It is supposed to be a step up from the open base unit. It also gets a 1hp motor instead of the 3/4 hp motor on the open stand version. A new one is currently $635 on amazon...

I don't see how you can go wrong at that price!

Take care,
Dick

I had one for a couple years as my first jointer and paid about $400 for it on sale with some rebates. Sold it for about $300 I think. It was a great little jointer.

I wouldn't even try to talk him/her down to $100, that's practically stealing! Take it for $150 and you have a great deal.

Same as the 37-195. A bunch of folks here, including a good friend of mine picked them up from Amazon a few years ago for $322 shipped, which was considered an incredible deal at the time. It's a good jointer with a good track record. The only drawback is the space taken up by the rack and pinion fence adjustment mechanism, but it's a very effective design.

I have one, and it's great within the limitations of its size. The rack and pinion fence adjustment mechanism hanging off the back is a pain for locating it in my shop, but for all that, I think its great.

I totally agree with you! Other than the rack and pinion, I am happy with mine.

Unfortunately he said it sold 20 minutes after he posted it. I guess he doesn't know how to delete his ads.....
