Anyone know where I could find a depth stop for a Record 044 (not the C)?

Thanks in advance.

cheers, Paul

The picture is from Alf (Alice) Frampton's site the Cornish workshop (www.cornishworkshop.co.uk (http://www.cornishworkshop.co.uk)). Alf's site has a lot of information on all the variations of combination planes. The depth stops and the extra blades are the first things to go missing on these things so good luck on finding an original.

That said, you should be able to make a suitable depth stop from drill rod of the right diameter and a small piece of metal for the shoe. I have a Record 043 and 050 and the depth stop on both is a very simple thing - you can see the hole in the shoe where the rod goes through and is peened in place. The bottom of the shoe is then sanded or ground flat.
