Multi-disc faceplate?

Ellsworth's book talks about using multi-disc faceplates for jam and vacuum chucks. Anyone know where such a faceplate can be obtained?

Bernie, not sure what that means, without seeing the book. I wonder if it refers to the type of face plates that companies like Vermec make?
