While I am just learning to turn, I decided to make a Christmas present for my neighbor to thank him for giving me some black walnut from his back yard.
Since getting a lathe last month I have been practicing spindle turning, trying to master coves, Vees, and beads. I also made one pen in a class at Woodcraft and then one at home to see if I could do it.
This is my third pen, actually it's a pencil, and the first with a taper. It's not perfect but gave me a chance practice with my skew chisel. My neighbor is thrilled that it's made from his own wood. Thanks.
