I am used to Coredraw and one of its most useful featurs is guides for alingning things.

Does Autocade have something like this?

Try settings, reference grid. I think it is F7. Then turn on settings, snap. I think it is F9

Thanks. But what I need is some way to create my own ref line. It does not look like autocade has this feature.

For now I just draw a line. Its more awkward and time consuming but it works.

The reason grids dont work is that I need to set a snap point at my own location. In many cases this will not be at a grid intersection. Even in Coreldraw I dont use grids as for very complex drawings they just get in the way.

Michael,
Are you talking about AutoCAD? If so, try using "construction lines". You can locate construction lines anywhere you want and you can snap to any intersection of construction lines or objects and construction lines.
