Thanks

Freud offers two 3.25 hp routers...an FT2200 and an FT3000. The FT3000 has a full compliment of above table features, while the FT2200 has none to speak of. The FT3000 for $200 would be an excellent buy, the FT2200 for that price would be on the expensive side.

I've got the the FT3000 and it is a fantastic router in a table. It's kinda huge for hand held use but no more so than any other 3.25 HP router.

I just looked at WC website and the only Freud router that showed up in search was the FT3000VCE and it's listed at $349.99. Actually, if you search for Freud routers in comes up at $349.99 but if you search for Routers and scroll down to the Freud it's on sale for $313.99. Then I put it in the cart and it came up $349.99. Price? Who knows. But, yeah, for $200 it would be a good deal.

I called and it is an in store type of thing. Sounds good though.

If it's the FT3000VCE and you're in the market for a router, I would be all over it.

Any word on which router model it is? I am in the market for a larger one.

My recent WC flyer:

FREUD 3 1/4 HP Router, Speed range 8K to 21K, soft start, 1/4 and 1/2" collets #836489 200 bucks. Reg 349. No Freud number. Dunno if that helps.

Oh, Black Friday deal. Supplies are limited.

Just got the WoodCraft flyer, and the photo is of the FT3000VCE. $200 is an incredible deal for that router.

Great deal on the router (I have one, bought with the table for $400). It is kinda big for handheld use though.

I bought a FREUD FT3000VCE off ebay on a "Buy it now" this last tuesday for $279. I've got a lot of fluting to do on my current trim job. I shopped the Milwaukee 5565, Triton TRA001, Bosch 1619EVS, Makita, etc. I had decided on the Bosch, but had trouble finding a bargain, let alone one in stock. I stumbled across the Freud, read all the reviews I could and pulled the trigger. The guy selling it said he bought it from Woodcraft a couple of years ago and never pulled it out of the box. After I purchased it, I sent him a message to please send me the tracking number when it's been shipped. I bought it at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. I heard nothing from him until I sent him another message around 6 p.m. Wenesday evening and asked him "What's up with the poor/slow communication"? I guess it ticked him off...oops. Last thing I wanted to do as I am in dire need of the unit. I've yet to hear a word from him about shipping, although he has listed the item as "Shipped" when I log into ebay. This is the first time I've ever had any trouble with anyone on ebay and have always researched the seller before buying from them. Hopefully it has been shipped and it arrives early this week. I did send the guy one more message asking for the tracking number while appologizing for sounding like a "poophead" and have not received a reply. eBay claims the guy has 45 days to ship and I'm now looking for another router. Sheesh, all I want is to be able to do my job.

The FT3000VCE seems to be what I'm looking for in a router, I'd just like the chance to find out. Thanks to everyone who has responded to Mr. Nagens post as it has helped me while shopping.

As an extra, I purchased a fluting guide from Eagle America, http://www.eagleamerica.com/product/400-1297b/new_products this should allow me to toss out my home made flute jig I've been using for years.

Thinking about either this for 199 on Black Friday. Or the Triton for in table use.

I cross referenced the Woodcraft stock number on their website and it comes up the 3000.

$199.00 will be an incredible deal for a few astute BF shoppers.

I've had my eye on this for the last 6 days. I don't need it, but one of you might be interested.

The local Woodcraft still has about 6 or 7 of them at the $199 closeout price. Just bought one today.

I have a FT2200, I bought it in new condition in the box, but second hand so I couldn't return it unfortunately. When table mounted, It always binds when raising the router.. and it didn't even come with any base plates to use it free hand. Also, after 3 to 4 hours of use, something messed up with the electrical. It will just stop mid cut, and start again whenever it feels like. Glad I only spent $100 on this, but it's the worst 3hp+ router I've ever used, and I'll never buy another Freud again. Also, compared to other brands the collets are a little mickey mouse, have to use motor lock instead of double wrenches. Overall bad design.

I have numerous Porter Cable routers ranging from trim router, to 3 1/4hp, and they are a beautiful machine. All are used in an industrial application, estimate 10 to 20 hours a week, every week. One 3.25hp router finally seized (bearings) after 12 years, the other 3.25hp is still running after 15. Porter Cable is and always was my Go-To for routers, and I've confirmed changing is a bad idea!

I am reading this thread, thinking "geez, I thought they discontinued those years ago". They I see the dates.

How does anyone respond to a 5 year old post?!

They haven't been sold in the U.S. for a number of years. Here's a possible source for the speed control module-

http://www.knighton-tools.co.uk/acatalog/FREUD_POWER_TOOL_SPARES.html

Is it worthwhile? Probably not. If you're handy, you could remove the speed control module and either let it run full speed or use an external speed controller. I did this is a P-C 8529 and it seems to work okay except for having to deal with the extra speed controller box.

How does anyone respond to a 5 year old post?!If you were unfortunate enough to get stuck with a Freud router, the age yours was when it died might be a good place to start ;).

My 1700 croaked off way too soon....

Hated to see 'em go away. Mine has been a good one (so far). Just watch. Now, it'll crap out.
