Is there such a thing as "Vector Fonts" to engrave letters and barcodes deeper into metals than rastering? Would you make them by Center Tracing existing font letters and duplicating an shifting the lines for added width? Does this make sense?

There are single line fonts but they would not be of any help if you're using a laser. Newer versions of Corel have a few single line fonts but I find them to be useless.

Embarassingly I forget who, but someone posted a bunch of "single line" fonts on the forum a little while back. You should be able to find them with a search.

Because of the way that fonts work, the lines are lasered twice (going all the way round something which has zero thickness), but this has not posed a problem with the plaster-of-paris method on stainless steel.

Alternatively, make any font vectorable by giving it a hairline outline and no fill.

Nope! Not if your using a C02 laser.. You're gonna get no depth on metal no matter what you do or use..
