Hey All,
I haven't been turning the last few weeks because I have been having immense pain from my left hip joint, and been using a cane to steady myself for just walking. I had the right hip done three years ago and it made a night and day difference. I was riding ATV's on the beach in Puerto Vallarta in five weeks, so I am hoping for the same results this time. It looks as though I will be going under the knife this Friday 10-29-10, then 3-4 days in the Hospital and home to start the recovery process. I was able to take 10-11 turnings and 15 Wine Stoppers to the Gallery I have a contract with, so that should keep them with inventory for the time I need to recover.

Ken, hope all goes well. You may want to check on the status of your previous hip procedure to determine if they used DePuy Orthopaedics devices. There has been a massive recall on them.

John,
I am getting a Stryker, Titanium and Ceramic Hip Replacement which is the same model used on my right hip three years ago. My Dr. has never had any problems or rejections with it and its been around for a long time. They say it might be good for 35 years which should be plenty. It is the same hip replacement as Jack Nickolaus had, so I am hoping my golf will be much improved after this. LOL

All,
Thanks for all the well wishes and Prayers for a speedy recovery.

I should have known this would surface at some point.

Well All,
I am now 7 days Post Op and have just given up the pain meds. I'm walking with a walker and sometimes crutches and doing as my Dr. and PT tell me to do. I feel like I am making good progress and have a goal of 6 weeks to get back to turning 2-4 hours a day. I am a little stir crazy, but have had company so far and my wife is taking great care of me. I miss having turning tools in my hands, but it is nice not to have the constant joint pain zapping my concentration level. I will be making shavings before too long. Thanks again for the well wishes.

That's great! Sounds like you're right on track. Take it easy and listen to your body(and your wife, doctor, therapist, etc):D
