Here's some samples I made in Marble and Wood on my Full Spectrum Laser 40W mini laser. All photos were edited in photoshop. Contrast is first increased. They were converted to black and white using error diffusion dithering and rastered at 1000dpi. Rastering is done via direct printing using RetinaEngrave USB (our own laser software). Photos taken with Canon DSLR using 50-200mm zoom lens.

Why 1000dpi?

A nice start, but they could all use some major work on contrast and definition. 1,000 dpi is too high of a resolution for all of those substrates, especially the wood.

Yes I agree on all of those that Dan mentioned, the lasering looks blurred and lacking in definition. 1000 dpi is ridiculous though, you need between 300 and 600 to get a really nice finish, any more is overkill and in the case of granite/marble, it would be the death of most images.

Marble can take the 600, granite will max out closer to 300 depending on the stone.
