I finally got a finished bowl that did not turn to garbage or have the bottom cut through....
Pens I can do... but bowls are still on the learning curve for me...
It is far from perfect, but good enough that we will use it for a nice candy dish for Christmas.....
Dry Black Locust (can you say "let's cut some concrete with a dull pen knife")
Finish is a couple of coats of Deft Brushing Lacquer polished with Micro Mesh
It was coming out sooo nice I decided to really go nuts and experiment with some crushed pink coral on the rim... there are a couple of little voids, but on this bowl I am not going to worry... I did find out that I can do it..

Beautiful and fuctional Tom, how wide and high is it? I especially like the curve of the sides and the rim treatment.

Very nice, Tom, Like all the stuff I see from you. You're "learning curve" is going to be short!

It is about 7.5" wide and 2.375" high... it started larger, but of course the "learning curve" got me... LOL

Tom, great job on the bowl, especially knowing how real, REAL tough that Locust is! :D It's more like, "Turn on the sharpening grinder and leave it "on", while turning the piece!" I really like the coral. How did you apply & finish it?
